With Christmas right around the corner comes a natural beauty query: how to get radiant skin that’s smooth and healthy – the perfect canvas for your festive party make-up. Achieving glowing, radiant skin is a common goal at any time of the year. But when it comes to looking and feeling our best for festive parties and events, it’s all the more critical.
A glowing complexion comes primarily from a healthy skin barrier, maintained by habits like a nutritious diet, exercise, sleep, and stress management (all of which tend to go out of the window at this time of year, leading to a dull, lacklustre complexion). For this reason, anything that you can do to counteract the damage will go a long way towards helping you to achieve a vibrant complexion this Christmas and beyond. Below are a few of my favourite radiance-inducing treatments to help you get started.
Dermal Fillers
There are so many things that we can achieve with dermal fillers these days, and quite often, we don’t need to inject much to see a beautiful result. I inject fillers for luminosity, structure and fullness where needed after a consultation. Using them strategically, we can soften the face by replacing lost volume, particularly in the cheeks and lips or redefining the facial contours that have been lost with age. Also, dermal fillers can be used to structure younger faces, for example, by adding definition to a weak chin or jawline, enhancing the lips, or balancing facial asymmetry.
Profhilo
Unlike dermal fillers, hyaluronic acid injectables such as Profhilo work on the skin’s condition to improve hydration, reduce fine lines and crepiness, remodel ageing skin and encourage a healthy, dewy complexion.
As we age, the surface of our skin tends to become rougher, drier and more crepey. Dehydration occurs when the skin barrier isn’t doing its job of holding moisture in the skin as well as it used to – a battle that many women face as they approach and go through menopause. Once we start to lose hydration, the skin looks more tired and dull, and wrinkles show up more easily.
When we use a substance like Profhilo, we boost skin hydration by enabling the skin to hold more moisture. It also stimulates the production of collagen and elastin, which is what, in time, will make the skin smoother, plumper, and bouncier.
Ultimate Glow
I created the Ultimate Glow to provide a long-lasting, natural glow. Using a combination of hyaluronic acid-based products, the treatment provides deep hydration, boosts collagen production, protects against free radicals, improves the skin’s overall health and most importantly, delivers the ultimate glow to your skin, leaving it looking dewier, younger and healthier.
We begin with Profhilo, which, as mentioned above, is a non-crosslinked hyaluronic acid product that spreads evenly under the skin to deeply hydrate it, without ‘filling’ it. Profhilo improves the health of the complexion, giving it the glow we all desire and the appearance of younger, healthier skin.
We will then add Juvéderm Volite to the treatment programme for added moisture. Using very tiny needles, this hyaluronic acid-based product is clinically proven to provide dermal hydration for up to nine months and plumps and hydrates the skin better than any topical skincare product alone.
The Ultimate Glow can be adapted to your individual concerns, such as lines, wrinkles and laxity, and dermal fillers can even be added for sculpting. When I first envisioned The Ultimate Glow, I wanted to create something that allows each person to decide how they would like to support their own ‘Ultimate Glow’.
HydraFacial
This is by far my favourite facial for maximising radiance before a special event or occasion. The HydraFacial is designed to boost skin health, delivering a relaxing resurfacing of the skin to address skin issues such as acne, rosacea, ageing and pigmentation whilst maximising skin glow.
The HydraFacial uses a hand-held device featuring vacuum technology and a whirring vortex at its tip to easily dislodge and remove impurities whilst simultaneously delivering hydrating serums deep into the skin. It combines multiple facial techniques all-in-one to deeply cleanse, exfoliate away dead skin cells and even do a spot of lymphatic drainage massage to eliminate toxins. A glycolic skin peel is applied to loosen debris and dead skin cells before the vortex technology suctions this gunk and debris from the pores, leaving the skin much smoother and more receptive to the radiance-boosting vitamins, antioxidants, peptides and hyaluronic acid that comes next.
AquaGold Fine Touch Facial
This treatment will have everyone asking how you got your glow. This luxurious facial uses 24k gold plated microneedles to painlessly deliver custom serums and boosters into the skin. The micro-injuries created by the needles help to generate new collagen and skin tissue, resulting in a smoother, more even-toned visage.
What makes the AquaGold a favourite in my eyes is its ability to adapt to all manner of skin concerns. By creating bespoke serums containing microdoses of botox, fillers and other skin vitamins for full-face rejuvenation, we can treat melasma, pigmentation, pores, and deliver an overall skin plumping and tightening result. It is also great for rejuvenating dull and dry skin.
