When most people think of injectables for restoring volume, dermal fillers usually come to mind. And while fillers remain an excellent tool in aesthetics, they are not the only option. Profhilo Structura is one of the newest innovations in regenerative medicine, designed to strengthen and rebuild the skin’s architecture rather than simply replace lost volume. It’s a subtle, sophisticated approach that works with your biology.

What is Profhilo Structura?

Profhilo Structura is the latest advancement from the Profhilo range, which is best known for skin quality treatments. Unlike the original Profhilo, which spreads through the skin to deliver deep hydration and improve elasticity, Structura is designed specifically for areas that have lost structural support, improving the appearance of the lower face and jawline.

It is made from highly stabilised hyaluronic acid, but its formulation is different from dermal fillers. Instead of sitting in one place to create volume, it stimulates your own fat cells in specific areas to regenerate. This restores your own volume in areas where you have lost it. The effect is a subtle rejuvenation that leaves the face firmer and better supported.

How does it work?

Profhilo Structura works by stimulating adipocytes (fat cells) in specific superficial fat pads of the face to regenerate. These fat cells deplete as we age in most areas of the face, and this contributes to a loss of firmness and a loss of structure. The treatment gives a gradual support when injected to the back of the cheekbone and the area in front of the ear, improving the appearance of the cheeks and jawline.

Unlike filler, which adds immediate volume, Profhilo Structura encourages your tissue to regenerate itself. Results appear progressively over weeks and months, creating an incredibly natural look, almost as though your face has turned the clock back on its own.

How is it different from filler?

The key difference lies in how the two treatments work within the skin. Dermal fillers restore lost volume by physically placing a gel of cross-linked hyaluronic acid beneath the skin. This gel integrates with the tissue and can be used to give a lifting effect, contour, or reshape areas like the cheeks, lips, or temples. When performed skilfully, fillers are excellent for revolumising and sculpting the face, but their action is immediate and mechanical – they add volume exactly where they are placed.

Profhilo Structura takes a very different approach. While it is also based on hyaluronic acid, it uses patented NAHYCO® technology to create a unique hybrid complex of high and low molecular-weight HA. This isn’t designed to sit as a gel implant. Instead, it stimulates the biological activity of ageing fat cells and fibroblasts in the mid-face, essentially reprogramming them to behave more like their younger counterparts. By doing so, it restores the resilience and density of the superficial fat pads that naturally diminish and descend with age.

This regenerative mechanism means the face is strengthened from within, with improved structure over time, without any sense of heaviness or overfilling. For patients who want support and a lifting effect but are wary of looking “done,” Structura offers a very subtle, regenerative option.

In practice, the best results often come from combining both approaches. Small amounts of dermal filler can replace precise areas of volume loss, while Profhilo Structura works quietly in the background to improve skin architecture and fat pad quality – creating a refreshed and harmonious outcome that evolves gradually.

What results can you expect?

Results from Profhilo Structura are not instant, but they are worth the wait. In the weeks after treatment, patients often notice their face feels firmer, tighter, and better hydrated. Over the following months, improvements become more visible, with a more lifted appearance and improved structure in the lower face.

Because the changes come gradually, it is difficult for others to pinpoint exactly what has been done, which is exactly the point.

Who is it for?

Profhilo Structura is ideal for those in their late 30s onwards who are starting to see early signs of sagging or volume loss but who want to avoid looking overdone. It is also a brilliant option for patients in their 40s, 50s, and beyond who want to use a regenerative approach. It works particularly well for improving the appearance of the lower face and jawline, where many people notice the first signs of ageing in the form of jowls or softening of facial contours.

How many treatments will you need?

Most patients benefit from a course of two sessions spaced four to six weeks apart, although some may require an additional treatment depending on an assessment. The effects can last for up to a year, and maintenance treatments help to prolong results over time.

Why I love Profhilo Structura

As an aesthetic doctor, I am always looking for treatments that achieve natural results while working in harmony with the body. Profhilo Structura fits this perfectly. It bridges the gap between skin boosters and dermal fillers, offering support and regeneration without altering facial proportions.

It gives patients the confidence of firmer, more resilient skin, while still looking entirely themselves. For me, that balance, helping someone look like the best version of themselves without anyone being able to tell why, is what aesthetics should always be about.

In summary

Profhilo Structura is not a filler, yet it restores support and structure in a way that fillers cannot. By stimulating the adipocyte cells, it rebuilds the facial framework, making it an exciting option for anyone noticing early sagging or loss of definition in the lower face. Subtle, regenerative, and natural, it is a treatment that represents the next step in ageing well.
