Injectable moisturiser treatments, Marylebone, London

Injectable skin boosters are becoming increasingly popular as a non-surgical option for improving skin texture and quality. These treatments involve injecting (usually) hyaluronic acid, a naturally occurring substance in the body, into the skin to provide hydration, improve elasticity and smoothness, and increase overall radiance. I’m a big fan of skin boosters, and frequently include them in my treatment plans to improve skin quality, or to support the results of other tweakments. In this blog, I discuss what injectable skin boosters are, what they do, who they are good for, and the various products available.

What are injectable skin boosters?

Injectable skin boosters use hyaluronic acid to improve the overall appearance and quality of the skin. Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring substance in the body that helps to maintain hydration and plumpness in the skin. As we age, the production of hyaluronic acid decreases, leading to the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, and a loss of elasticity.

Injectable skin boosters work by injecting hyaluronic acid into the skin, which helps to attract and retain water, providing an instant plumping effect. This also stimulates collagen production, which leads to longer-term improvements in skin texture and quality.

What do injectable skin boosters do?

Injectable skin boosters can improve the appearance and quality of the skin in several ways. They can:

  • Improve hydration levels in the skin, providing a more plump and radiant appearance
  • Smooth out fine lines and wrinkles
  • Increase skin elasticity and firmness
  • Improve skin texture and tone
  • Reduce the appearance of acne scars and other types of scars
  • Improve the appearance of dark circles under the eyes

Who are injectable skin boosters good for?

Most people notice that after injectable moisturisers, their skin feels very well-hydrated. My patients are delighted with how much fresher, softer and springy their skin feels after treatment. Injectable moisturisers generate extra collagen and elastin, leaving the skin stronger and firmer. They are a great option for anyone who would like to restore vibrance to their skin, or who would like to manage the effects of ageing. The added hydration plumps up skin cells, making the skin appear smoother and reflect light better, giving it a healthier and fresher appearance.

These treatments manage to restore some of the radiance and glow that gets lost with age. Additionally, they can soften fine lines in the skin, improve acne scarring, and some types of injectable moisture treatments, such as Profhilo, have been shown to improve the firmness and tightness of the skin where it is injected.

Which skin booster is right for you?

Profhilo

Profhilo contains one of the highest concentrations of hyaluronic acid available and delivers prolonged efficacy, integrating into the tissue where it then really gets to work to restore the levels of hyaluronic acid naturally found in the skin. You can expect improvements in skin texture, elasticity, and hydration, with the boost of a subtle tightening effect in some cases.

Volite

Administered through a series of tiny injections, Volite works to plump and hydrate skin, smoothing out roughness and evening out depressions. It doesn’t disperse as much as Profhilo and therefore has more of an impact on fine lines and wrinkles. The results are subtle, and it’s more about age-proofing the face instead of turning back the clock.

Nucleofill

Nucleofill is a new bio-stimulator designed for skin rejuvenation and protection. This anti-aging treatment improves skin elasticity and tightness, preventing wrinkles. It’s an excellent option for those who experience puffiness with other hyaluronic acid injectables. Unlike other skin boosters, Nucleofill uses polynucleotide-based bio-stimulating gels to contour, firm, and boost collagen. It provides a natural look, structure, and deep hydration to the skin without as much volume as fillers.

Viscoderm Hydrobooster

Viscoderm Hydrobooster is a stabilised hyaluronic acid injectable that hydrates and restructures wrinkles. It improves skin elasticity, radiance, and smoothness, whilst also eliminating lines and wrinkles for a more youthful appearance. It’s effective in mobile areas around the mouth, eyes, and forehead with signs of ageing.
